Volunteers needed for Hockey Development Program
Interested in helping young players and goalies develop skills, and maximize their enjoyment of our great game? Becoming an on-ice co-ordinator/instructor in the NMHA's Hockey Development group could be for you. If you coach in the house league or Rep, or if you'd like to get involved the minimum requirement is IP certification. We'll even help you get certified.
Hockey Development Programs include:
Initiation Program(CHIP) - Tyke (7 yrs)
Initiation Program(CHIP) - Novice (8 yrs)
Goalie Development - Atom (9 and 10 yrs)
Goalie Development - Peewee (11 and 12 yrs)
I P Junior Shooting - (10 yrs and under)
I P Senior Shooting - (Over 10 yrs)
Iniation Program (CHIP) 10 session 20 hr
Two (2) volunteers needed
This is a 10 week (every other week) program, as an on-ice co-ordinator you'd be delivering 10 pre-planned practices with 4 or 5 on-ice helpers. We bring first year major tyke players and first year novice players an educational skills program designed to improve their hockey skills.
Goalie Development (20 sessions 20hr)
one (1) volunteer needed
The goalie development program needs a dedicated leader who can implement a well-defined program for young goaltenders. The program uses a set of pre-planned practices and H.L. based shooters. If you are a goalie Dad or a goalie coach this would be the program for you to be involved in.
I P Shooting Clinics (10 sessions 10 hr)
two (2) volunteers needed
At the junior level the program will use the Initiation Program skill development outline to introduce and improve shooting technique. At the senior level the program will work on shooting opportunities in "game like" situations. Focus will be on shooting while moving, accuracy, one timers and shooting to score.
If any of these leadership opportunities appeal to you or if you'd just like to help out on or off ice contact me at coachkkelly@rogers.com or telephone 905 473 5504.
Volunteers make Hockey Development go. All programs are designed to start in early November, so please act today and help a young player develop. You'll be surprised what YOU will learn.
If you are a high school aged player in H.L or Rep looking to help as an on-ice helper, all programs are eligible for "community service" credits. You must be 14 yrs of age and we'll help you get IP (CHIP) certified, there is no cost to students.
Just contact me at the email above or give me a call should you have any questions.
